The issues a teachers are protesting are varied, though embody due increases in health-insurance rates that could effectively cancel out compensate raises for many of them.

The teachers and their supporters marched along Rich Avenue, from a parking lot outward a Thomas C. Kelly Volusia County Administration Center to a house assembly during a Volusia County Schools headquarters.

The School Board’s assembly chambers were filled to ability with not usually VTO supporters, though relatives and students vocalization out opposite a due new uniform policy, that a house authorized to be rigourously advertised on a 4-1 vote.

Board Member Linda Cuthbert was a solitary opinion against. She cited her hostility to levy a process on all schools during once and suggested doing a commander module in a tiny series of schools first. However, a rest of a house overruled her, citing advantages of a uniform, including dwindling a weight propagandize administrators have from carrying to make a dress code.

Other advantages cited enclosed a ability to fast brand who is and who is not a student, as good as a equalizing outcome a uniform could have, by creation both high- and low-income students demeanour a same.

The process will come behind during a after assembly for final approval.

The uniform policy, that would take outcome in a 2016-2017 propagandize year, would require:
